Most homes take between 6-9 months to complete, depending on the scope of work, once building permits are issued and financing is in place. However, there are many factors that can affect the time to build. Some conditions that may extend your building time are sloped sites, winter building conditions, remote locations, utility connections, permit inspections, tree removal and clearing, wet conditions with extended dry out periods, material &/or labor shortages. We recommend giving yourself some buffer time around your initial planned move-in date and following your schedule updates that are closely managed by your project superintendent as your project proceeds.

A loan to build a new home is different than a 30-year conventional home loan. If you need financing, then you may need to work with a construction lender to secure a construction loan. This is a short-term loan that can be used to purchase the land, site development costs, utilities, permit fees, and the cost to build your home. Some loans have two closings and other loans have a single closing.
