Winter Activities in Central Oregon

By Tailored by Woodhill - 12-28-2022

Tailored by Woodhill operates in and around Central Oregon. We love calling this area home and we take pride in creating homes and communities that enrich the area. If you are considering a move here, you no doubt are curious to know what activities there are to do. Truth be told, there's a never-ending list of fun activities to do in Central Oregon, even in Winter! Here are some of our favorite Winter activities that are worth checking out.

Take a Hike

Just because it is a little cold doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy all the nature that Oregon has to offer! And because Bend and other Central Oregon cities don’t experience much snow accumulation, hiking during the Winter doesn’t have to be reserved only for the most adventurous hikers. Armed with plenty of layers and a pair of micro spikes, you can take on Pilot Butte Viewpoint, trails along the Deschutes River, and much more.

Take In Music Fireside

After a stroll through nature, warm your feet by the fire at Suttle Lodge. On Thursdays from October to May, you can take in live music in a cozy atmosphere as a part of their Fireside Music Series. Surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest, this is the perfect place to spend an evening. Shows are free if you are staying in one of the cabins, otherwise it is best to reserve tickets on their site.

Go for a Soak

Another way to warm up after some snowshoeing or ice skating is to take a soak at the legendary McMenamins. There are several McMenamins locations scattered throughout Oregon, and each one is unique. Our location boasts a movie theater, restaurant, pub, cocktail bar, and one unforgettable blue soaking pool. Positioned under an open-air skylight, you can relax in the soothing waters while gazing up to falling snow.

Hit the Slopes

We would be remiss if we did not mention skiing and snowboarding as prime Wintertime activities. Oregon is home to a beautiful mountain range and the central part of the state is near to several excellent ski destinations. For a quick trip outside of Bend, Mount Bachelor has over 1,000 acres of land to ski. If you don’t mind driving to beat the crowds, Mount Hoodoo is also an excellent destination. About an hour drive from Bend, this location is a bit more laid back and a better bargain too. Why not hit up both mountains this Winter?

This list of things to do is truly just scratching the surface. The good news is that when you live here, you have time to explore all that Central Oregon has to offer. If you are looking to build a home in this area, reach out to our team today. We would love to help you.
